A division is an organizational unit in Logistics in the SAP system and is used to group materials and services. for example, product groups or lines.

The division is responsible for the profits of materials and services. A sales organization in SAP can have several divisions assigned to it, for which it is responsible. If you use the SAP Sales and Distribution module, you will need at least one division.

The SAP system uses the division to determine the sales areas a material or a service is assigned to. A division can, for example, represent a product group as motorcycles, spare parts, service and etc.

Therefore, you can, for example, restrict price agreements with a customer to a certain division. You can also conduct statistical analysis by division.

Each transaction in SAP Sales and Distribution (SAP SD) to a certain divison connected. It will either be derived:

  • The combination of customer and sales area
  • The material master record

You can use different types of master data for the each division, such as customer master data, prices and conditions.
